Why this exists
As part of promoting journeys and moments on Benewell's own social media channels (Facebook and potentially others in future), we may feature your organisation's content, photos, stories and updates to help build awareness and support for your work. This policy outlines how that works and what we ask of you in return.
Consent to be featured
During onboarding (and any time after, in your Settings), you can choose whether Benewell may feature your journeys, moments, photos and organisation name across our social media channels and marketing materials. This is on by default, but you're free to opt out at any time and we'll respect that immediately going forward.
Sensitive or identifying content
Some journeys involve vulnerable individuals (for example, people who have experienced trafficking, abuse or persecution). Before posting content involving identifiable photos, names or personal stories of vulnerable people, especially children, we ask that your organisation confirms:
- The individuals (or their guardians) have given informed consent to be photographed and publicly shared
- Sharing their story or image does not put them, their family or others at risk
- Any content shared with Benewell for this purpose is accurate and current
If you're ever unsure whether something is safe to share publicly, flag it to us before we post rather than after.
Changing your preference
You can turn social media featuring on or off at any time from your organisation Settings page. You can also ask us to remove or stop using specific content. Contact us at team@benewell.org and we'll act on it promptly.
Content ownership
You retain ownership of your own photos, videos and written content. By sharing it with Benewell for use in journeys, moments or promotional posts, you grant Benewell a non-exclusive licence to use, edit and share that content for the purpose of promoting your journey and the wider Benewell platform, for as long as your social media preference remains set to "opted in".
Accuracy
Please ensure any updates, statistics or claims shared with us (for example, "19 families freed") are accurate and can be substantiated, since we'll be sharing these publicly on your behalf.
Our commitment to you
We won't use your organisation's content for anything outside of promoting your work and Benewell as a platform and we won't sell or share it with third parties beyond normal social media posting.
